CENTEX TO BEGIN CONSTRUCTION ON RIVERMIST WALL
City of San Antonio issues building permit
San Antonio, TX — November 22,
2010 — Centex today received the building permit
from the City of Antonio to begin construction on a new retaining
wall at its Rivermist community.
Construction of the new pier-panel wall, which
replaces an existing wall damaged in a slope failure in January
2010, will begin immediately and is expected to take four
to six months to complete.
“In developing the new wall design, we have worked
closely with third-party engineering experts, the Rivermist
Homeowners Association (HOA) and the City of San Antonio,”
said Laurin Darnell, division president for Centex in San
Antonio. “We can now begin construction activities and
will work to complete the project in a timely manner with
minimal disruption to the residents.”
“I am very pleased that the City, Centex, and the Bexar
County Rivermist Homeowners Association worked together to
to develop a safe, effective and aesthetically pleasing solution
for the residents of Rivermist,” said District 8 City
Councilman W. Reed Williams.
The pier-panel design of this wall is more commonly used
in transportation and commercial applications to safely support
heavy live loads adjacent to highways, railways, industrial
or multi-story buildings. This wall will have a customized
finish to blend in nicely with the surrounding areas. Additionally,
Centex will landscape the area with more than 80 major native
trees once construction is complete.
